Jill Casty’s journey into the world of the wonders of glass currently is taking two inter-related paths. As in the dynamic “gestural” works of abstract expressionist painters, her fusions and ensembles become an evocative dramatization of her feelings and attitudes, her responses to her materials and stages of creation, and to the world around her.
Her glass collages mix an array of vibrant colors and dramatic textures – often with some fine silver inlaid within. They are layered, deeply textured, full of energy and personality.
In one approach, she blends a series of fusions that are related in theme and style with a variety of metals that interact with the tone and feel of the glass. Sometimes interacting in unruffled harmony, sometimes with an emotional sense of contrast and friction and yet a final harmonious reconciliation.
In the second approach, individual painterly panels are abstracted evocations of nature, its moods and echoes, and of geometric essences. Each textured and dramatic glass panel is floated in a harmonious sculptural metal complement, made up of various metals, including bronze, copper, aluminum, brass.
The wall hanging or standing ensembles and the panels are a perfect enhancement for corporate, hospitality, and institutional sites, as well as residences.
