A standing sculpture suitable for table top or floor placement, “Out of Chaos” carries thematic and emotional intimations of beauty and harmony resurrected. It combines seven re-emerging, spirit-raising glass fusions with a variety of metals. In their jagged, dislocated patterns, the metals evoke the fragmenting of modern life, yet in the ensemble there endures still the potential of a life of rhythmic grace. The work reflects the lines about the power of art by D. H. Lawrence, “I rise in flames, cried the Phoenix.”
